A slightly overdue update of the summer comps. Congratulations to Dean ‘The quiet man’ Wright, who picked up his first title at Somerley Park by winning the Summer 12 Hole League. Although he may not talk much, he’s pretty handy with the big stick! Nice to see one of our ‘youngsters’ picking up a trophy! All this despite the best efforts of Bob Q, who notched up a creditable 27 points on his final round of the competition, just falling 2 points short.

As for the Summer League, the final rounds were played in some pretty windy conditions, meaning Glyn was unable to snatch the title away from Andrew, who managed to sneak the win thanks to a better average back 9!
A similar story developed in the Summer Eclectic, this time with Graham Joel unable to find the birdie that would have hauled him past Andrew in the table, leaving him just .6 of a stroke adrift at the top.
Despite a difficult, and somewhat curtailed summer season, these competitions were all well attended and extremely competitive. Well done to all who took part, and don’t forget to enter the winter comps… the first of which (Winter League) is already under way, with the 12 hole and eclectic starting on 9th November. Let’s hope for some kind (and dry!) weather over the next few months.
